Six Nations 2015 Predictions: Round 5

This weekend it’s the final round of the 2015 Six Nations Championship. For the top rugby nations in Europe, this is the culmination of weeks of hard work, and a final chance to stake their claim for the trophy. Once again, we’re bringing you our predictions for the big matches, and this time, for the overall winner as well.

Italy vs Wales
Saturday March 21 @ 12:30 GMT

You would expect Wales to beat Italy, and that’s been made even more likely this week by Italy’s woeful performance against France last time out. The Italians failed to score a single point in that game, and they will struggle to be competitive against a Welsh team that still has a chance to win the tournament. Wales will need a huge winning margin to achieve that though, especially if England & Ireland win their matches.

Prediction: Wales win

Scotland vs Ireland
Saturday March 21 @ 14:30 GMT

Scotland have been struggling in last place in the Championship table & Ireland are pushing to retain their Six Nations crown. It’s hard to see the Irish slipping up here, even though they lost out to Wales in the last match. They’ll be ready to bounce back and push to take the title.

Prediction: Ireland win

England vs France
Saturday March 21 @ 17:00 GMT

France are in amazing form after a remarkable 29-0 victory over Italy in the previous round. England will find this game tough, especially under the pressure of striving to come from behind in the title race to overhaul Ireland. It could turn out to be a big upset on England’s home turf.

Prediction: France win

Championship prediction: Ireland win

Should Ireland beat Scotland, and England lose to France, that would be enough to give Ireland the title. However, if Wales can score a huge margin of victory over struggling Italy, they still have an outside chance to take the crown. The top three are currently level on championship points, but Wales lags behind Ireland & England on match points difference. So, we reckon that Ireland should be able to take the silverware home, but anything can happen!
